As a six-years-later follow-up to my "going pro" post: being a pro photographer is rough. I shot a wedding, helped with some shoots for other photographers, got contracted for portrait and event shoots, and captured many portraits. It paid the bills, but barely – I got caught in the still-worsening "weekend warrior" epidemic, wherein everyone with a new camera thinks they can fit in with the other professionals.
